This week we will be continuing to learn about the Queen and the story of her knickers!
This week we will be writing letters to the Queen asking her to come and visit the school. Although she is a very busy lady, we may get a reply directly from Buckingham Palace! We will be using 'To' and 'From' in our letters and challenging ourselves to use all the sounds we have learnt in our writing.
In Maths, we will continue to work on addition through working out 1 more and looking at the '+' symbol and talking about what this means. We will also be doing some problem solving by working out the missing numbers in a sequence e.g. 5, _, 7.
In Phonics this week we will be continuing to learn new digraphs. We will be learning 'sh', 'ch' and 'th' this week. We will continue practising applying what we have learnt to both our reading and writing. Since we have learnt the tricky words 'he' and 'she' we will be looking at 'we','me' and 'be' and discussing the patterns we notice across the five words.
Friday brings us to the day before the Chinese New Year so we will be learning about how people in China celebrate this day. We will be making a Chinese style coconut and banana dessert and then writing instructions for how to make it (just in case you would like to make it at home!).
In Early Morning Work this week we will be learning to log in to the computers using our own username and password. We will be discussing how to be safe on the computers, particularly when using the internet.
Last week we were all very proud of the Red Class children and how well they adapted to meeting us at the gate! It is lovely to see how much they are growing in confidence!
