This week is all about sharing, capacity, practising our sounds and a little writing thrown in too!
This week we are going to be learning about sharing equally in Maths. We will be showing the children how to share items one at a time until they are all gone and then counting how many are in one group. Some of us will be exploring numbers what can and cannot be shared equally. Later in the week we will be talking about capacity and the terms ‘full’, ‘half full’ and ‘empty’ while decorating bottles to show these amounts.
We will be reading ‘Shh Don’t Wake the Royal Baby’ and writing a page for the story where something in London wakes the Royal Baby.
Over the past few weeks we have been working really hard on learning some new tricky digraphs in Phonics. Next week we will be introducing one digraph: ‘oa’. We will also be introducing the tricky word ‘was’. For the rest of the week we will be revising and consolidating the sounds we have learnt so far, ensuring that we recognise them when reading and can use them in our writing. When writing, we have been encouraging the children to use the sound mat and the picture prompts to help them if they are stuck.
We continue to update Bug Club books weekly so we hope that you are enjoying reading these at home. Please let us know if you have any questions about Bug Club or any trouble accessing the books online.
We will be sending our Learning Diaries home at the end of the week so you can record what you have been up to during Half Term. There may also be some extra challenges to complete.
We look forward to a lovely week.
