Week beginning 10th July.

So...there have been some overly-dry beef burgers - too much of the wholemeal breadcrumbs, I feel - and some genuinely enjoyed Mexican chicken burgers and Thai-flavoured salmon burgers. This week, we're entering the culinary world one more time and there's not a hint of a Linda McCartney packet in sight, but we are going vegetarian. Let's see how pulsed beans go down...

Homework is no more. Shall I write that again? Homework is no more. Not laziness on my part, just a recognition that spirits and energy are flagging and that the children want a moment of relief, even though many will work through the summer break, readying themselves for those late summer P.E.S.E. tests.

Daily comprehension, GPS, mental maths and worded maths will continue until the bitter end and we will still be revising Maths topics and extending our writing practice, whilst learning more snippets about the Ancient Egyptians. No Science this week as the Spoken English Competition will be held on Monday afternoon but, otherwise, it will be a fairly typical week. The children seemed happy with their ukulele performances on Friday - the result of a lot of focus on their part - and the minds of some are now leaving Year 5 and putting themselves mentally into Year 6...but more of that next week.

I'm starting to feel slightly lump-in-throat because I will miss them...
