Hopefully everyone will be returning refreshed and raring to go, as term 2 is one of the longer terms of the year.
In maths, we move on to a unit of fractions and will start with revisiting equivalence, simplification, comparing and ordering before moving on to applying the 4 operations to fractions with addition and subtraction being followed by the introduction of multiplication and division. Although fluency will be a key focus, reasoning and problem solving with fractions will also feature over the next 3 to 4 weeks.
Our next class novel is Cosmic by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and we are fortunate to have a copy for each child to use in class and to read at home. Although some of the text will be read in school time, the children will also be expected to read chapters at home - this helps prepare them for secondary school and allows us to get to the end of the text a little faster! Our English work for the next few weeks will be based on this book as the children get to know about Liam and his adventure!
Later in the term we will be designing and making felt (or other fabric) phone cases in DT. Parent helpers at the construction (sewing) point would be much appreciated and a note giving details will follow in due course.
