Sadly we had to bid farewell to Miss Gilder on Friday after her 8 week final teaching placement. She did a brilliant job with the class and we were sad to see her return to university to complete her degree. We wish her well with the rest of her course and her job hunting - whichever school recruits her will be very fortunate.
For the rest of this term in maths, we will be finishing the measurement topic (volume) then moving on to geometry. We will draw 2D shapes using given dimensions and angles, compare and classify geometric shapes based on their properties and sizes, find unknown angles in triangles, quadrilaterals and regular polygons recognise a range of angles based on known facts and find missing angles. Phew! That should take us through to the to Easter break.
In English we have just started our work on the Louis Sachar novel, 'There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom' and we will use it to write diary entries, practise formal and informal language, write character descriptions, learn to precis chapters, research the author and look at points of view. Not all in one week I hasten to add!
In DT we will soon be ready to sew - a note will be coming home this week asking for some parental help with this in the last week of term. Be brave - volunteer!
Cricket continues on Tuesday afternoon and HIIT on Thursday afternoon - Last week the class demonstrated impressive fitness levels - I was tired just watching but plan to join in this week so I may not be fit to work on Friday!
Well done to Leo and Jess who each earned a merit award this week. Who will get that accolade next Friday?
