Week commencing Monday 16th April
I hope you have all had a fantastic Easter break - even if the weather was not terribly kind to us.
Full of chocolate, we begin the new term with getting straight into our lessons.
English will be poetry, traditional, performance and humorous poetry.
Maths moves on to fractions.
We move into The Ancient Greeks in our History where we will look at the origins of the alphabet, Greek Gods and some other things we got from the Greeks - like the marathon!
Science continues with our Animals including Humans topic as we did not get through all of this last term.
We will complete our photo frames as again, we ran out of time for this due to Lent Services.
In RE we spend time looking and learning at The Prophet Mohammed.
Lots of other things to fit in this term including May Day, Cricket Lessons, a visit from The Police to consolidate our learning from our Crime and Punishment topic and our Skateboarding workshop that we missed due to snow days.
As always, please ensure PE kit is in school all of the time as we will be fitting May Day practise in where we can as well as our indoor PE lesson. Please ensure your child has separate PE wear if they are doing any after school clubs as trainers often are never seen again if they are worn home!
There were lots and lots of jumpers without names last term - as we should soon be welcoming warmer weather and therefore the removal of jumpers more frequently, please ensure they are named. We spent lots of time looking for jumpers that we were assured were named last term only to find they were not named of had someone elses name in them as they had been handed down. Similarly with water bottles, again these were not named and we or the children were spending valuable time searching for these. Hopefully, again if it is warmer, water bottles will be going outside with the children where inevitably they will be left on a field somewhere!
Please remember that Friday 20th is wear something red for a donation to our fundraising 'There but not there' appeal to enable us to have a Royal British Legion Soldier silhouette as a permanent fixture in a wild flower meadow at the back of one of our fields. There is no minimum or maximum amount of donation but please ensure whatever red item your child is wearing that it is suitable for school - no bare midriffs!
The children have different places for maths and English when we return so that I can ensure they are specifically working to achieve their best levels - please do not stress that they have 'moved up or moved down'!
I look forward to seeing Team Green back on Monday.
