Week beginning 29th January
We hope that you had the opportunity to view the sample of our output at the celebration of art week last Friday. With the many and varied tasks that Mrs Black arranged for us, it was impossible to show everything by everybody, but if you have booked in to join us on Tuesday or Thursday this week, some more will be on display in the classroom. The format for these open afternoons will be as before, arrive at 2:30, join us for approximately 40 minutes of our learning, releasing you at about 3:10 to allow us to get the children ready to be with you at the usual time.
For the last two weeks of this term, we are investigating fairy tales in English, using The Princess and the Pea by Lauren Child and The Pea and the Princess by Mini Grey. By the end of this week we should have evaluated the features of fairy tales, revised speech punctuation and planned our own ‘twisted’ fairy tale, retelling a traditional story, but from a different point of view. For maths, it is a week of finding fractions of amounts, using the children’s skills of division and multiplication.
Good luck to the many children from the class who are representing our school at the O2 Arena in London on Monday. Our thanks go to Mrs Julier for giving up so much of her time in preparing the children for this amazing experience.
Congratulations to Lizzie, who received our behaviour award last week.
