Thank you to those parents who came in to see the class at work during open afternoons last week - we hope that you were impressed by the work we had to show you. This week we will once again be welcoming parents, though this time for our e-safety assembly on Tuesday afternoon. Come along and see Captain Smart helping the class to make the correct choices online!
Most learning this week will be led by Miss Gilder. In maths we move on to algebra midweek after completing our comparison work on decimals, percentages and fractions, while in English our writing based on Alma will draw to a close and hopefully we will have time to complete an independent follow on 'what happens next style' piece of writing too.
In geography we will start our learning about the Amazon rainforest, looking this week at the layers which make up rainforests (forest floor, under storey, canopy and emergent layer).
On Friday afternoon the class will start our DT project with Miss Gilder- creating a felt cover (with a fastening) for a portable device, for example an iPod touch or a mobile phone. We will start by investigating different design criteria based on whether the cover is for a child's or an adult's device. Then we will design the pattern for the case and create a template in paper so that we can check that the device will fit in the finished product.
Then it's time for a well-earned break - without any homework to be done!
