Mathematics – We will cover Decimals, Measurement, including money and time, Geometry, including position, direction and properties of shape and Statistics.

Science – Our first topic covers Sound, where we will investigate how sounds are made, pitch and volume, followed by All Living Things in Term 6.

Geography/History – For this first term, we are concentrating on Geography, learning about settlements and land use, and in Term 6, we will focus on History with a local history study.

Computing – With Mrs Castle, starting with We are Co-authors, where we will produce a wiki, followed by sessions where we will use and apply our learning across the whole year and revisiting some basic word processing skills.

RE – This term we will be investigating what it means to be a Hindu in Britain today, followed by what do Christians learn from The Creation story in Term 6.

Art and Design/Design & Technology – For this term, we are concentrating on Design and Technology, designing, making and evaluating our ideas for a musical instrument. Next term, we will focus on Art and Design, looking at buildings.

Music – With Mrs Julier, who will focus on performance, using the forthcoming Matilda performances as our inspiration.

French – In our modern foreign language learning with Mrs Campbell, we will focus on numbers to 20, months of the year and parts of the body.

PE – Our usual PE this term continues on a Tuesday and Friday, where we will be concentrating on dance, in preparation for our May Day celebrations, and netball. We will also be participating in the Charlton Athletic Community Trust Primary School Health programme, which will be on a Wednesday morning. Next term, we change to athletics and multi-skills.

Unfortunately, there is still a steady stream of ‘forgotten’ kit, especially from children who attend after school sports clubs. As a reminder, kit should be in school at all times, and if you attend an after school club, a separate kit should be provided, as children do not change prior to being picked up.
Jewellery, including stud type earrings, will need to be removed and hair tied or clipped back for all our PE lessons. Please ensure that all kit is labelled and is kept in the cloakroom in the usual drawstring bags, if possible.

Other information
We do update our class page on the school website weekly, so please do visit it regularly for any changes or updates to this information.

To link with our science and geography learning, we have arranged another visit to the Living Land event at The Kent Showground on Thursday 3rd May, full details will follow very shortly.

It is recommended that children bring in a sun hat for our outside activities together with a named water bottle. They may also continue to bring in a healthy snack for break time.
Home learning will again be given on a Friday, for completion by the following Friday, which allows ample time to complete the tasks set, should children be busy at the weekend. Also on a Friday, spellings and times table/other mental maths will be tested.

We all like to think that we are very approachable, so should you have any concerns or questions, please do not keep them to yourselves! A note in the contact book or asking us directly at the end of the day is the best way to resolve these.

Mr Miller, Mrs Hadler, Mrs Chase, Mrs Harwood and Mrs Foot.
