We are looking forward to having lots of fun during SCIENCE WEEK at Tunstall.
Welcome back everyone! We hope that you all had a lovely half term break and enjoyed the sunshine... as well as the rain...
This week is SCIENCE WEEK and there are lots of fun activities planned. In Orange Class we will do some fun experiments, make something nice to eat on a hot day and use our English skills to record instructions and some of our findings. Other science activities will include special assemblies, watching our Year 6 pupils demonstrating experiments, finding out about owls and, at the end of the week, the science exhibition. We will also be visiting our vegetable garden to see how it is doing.
In Maths we will be working on capacity and volume. First of all we will practise using non-standard units of measure such as spoons and yogurt pots to fill our containers and then we will do some work on the standard unit of measure, a litre. The children will explore relevant language such as full, empty, half full and more/less than half full. At the end of the week we will move on to weight and mass, using language such as heavier, lighter, heavy, light etc.
As always, we will be continuing our phonics learning. The children will be working hard on recognising phonemes in the words they read and these words will be a range of real and 'alien' (or nonsense) words.
It is going to be a super week!
