Week commencing 4th July

We need to fit our learning around three main events this week, namely the trip to Matilda on Wednesday, drama club start rehearsing in earnest (or is it in the school hall?) on Thursday and the school music concert on Friday. There will be some children who are in all and some that are in none, but they affect us all.
Last week, the children were introduced to nonsense poetry, and this week we look to write our own limericks and look at other forms of nonsense poetry, including The Pobble who has no Toes, also by Edward Lear. In maths, its word problems all the way, honing the skills of choosing the correct operation.
Our trip to the church was extremely interesting, and our local history knowledge has been greatly improved, thanks to the efforts of Mrs Tatchell. We now have some further research to gather in preparation for our information booklet on the church. In science, it’s looking at ways to have a positive effect on the local environment, let’s look forward to some more positive weather for our investigations.
Congratulations to Toni for receiving our behaviour award last week.
