Week beginning 8th October
…was one of the many questions that came about from our learning last week. The goose in question was Clio, and we were successfully rewriting the Roman Myth, A Wild Goose Chase, from the point of view of the animal interest in the story. Animals may feature in our English learning this week, where we will plan, draft and edit our own myth, drawing together the learning from the past two weeks.
In maths, we will focus on subtraction this week, first by reviewing the ‘standard’ method, first without and then with exchanges, which is carrying in old money. We will then apply this knowledge by tackling some reasoning and problem-solving activities. We sent home a reminder about the Times Table Rockstars website, which can be accessed at home by the children, and will be very useful to develop the children’s quick recall of both multiplication and division facts.
Last week’s spellings will be tested on Monday 8th, after which we hope normal service will be resumed, returning to our usual pattern of lessons. Thank you for bearing with us during staff absence.
Science this week moves onto food chains, and PE may include a session on the fitness equipment which should be installed Monday, adjacent to our traversing wall.
Finally, congratulations to Lucy who received our behaviour award last week.
