Week commencing October 8th
This week will see us aiming to consolidate the learning we have done on addition and subtraction in maths- using the column method was new for most of the children and they began to pick it up well. Towards the end of the week we will look at adding and subtracting in a real-life context!
English will see us focus on Flat Stanley, a thoroughly engaging book that children always seem to love- we’ll even be writing our own adventures as Stanley himself!
Geography continues our exploration of countries and continents, whereas in Science we have finished looking at forces and magnets and will start to look at rocks.
Congratulations to Isabelle of Green T who won this week’s behaviour merit award- Green B winner to be announced shortly. Another well done to Kessia in Green T who became just the second child to gain her pen licence; a few more are very close so will be aiming for their neatest work this week!
Due to Mr Baker’s planned time out of school on Friday morning, the test for last week’s spellings will now be in the first lesson on Monday morning. After this we will hand out the new spellings for this week- apologies for any confusion this has caused!
Mrs Day will continue to cover for Mrs Black’s absence this week. If there is anything you wish to discuss, please let us know via the contact books or catch us at the end of the day. Here’s to a great penultimate week of term one!
