All children are welcomed at Tunstall school where they are valued and respected. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school and it is out aim to identify and break down opportunities to grow spirituality, socially, emotionally and extra support whilst at school and aim to provide this for them. In some cases this will only be for a short time but in other instances their needs will be ongoing.
Responsibility
It is the responsibility of every member of Tunstall’s community to meet the needs of our children, through quality first teaching, classroom organisation, teaching materials, adaptive teaching, nurture provisions and inclusive environments.
The provision for pupils and special educational needs is a priority of the whole school and part of the continuous cycle of assessment and review.
Our inclusion ensure staff-wide training to identify and respond to the barriers to learning, those with SEND. Teachers met regularly to share good practice and develop awareness of differing needs, enabling every child to flourish.
We facilitate specialist provisions for those pupils with identified barriers to social, emotional or mental health needs. Our aim is for pupils to develop the skills they need to think and learn independently. We enable our pupils to develop strategies, in order to gain confidence in their own abilities and acquire the skills that will help them to succeed at Tunstall CEP School and beyond.

Wellbeing Sharing Form for families
At Tunstall CEP School, we recognise the importance of promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing for all pupils and their families. We aim to increase awareness and ability to be emotionally resilient and to empower our children to be able to regulate their emotions. By implementing The Zones of Regulation curriculum we aim to teach our pupils to identify emotions in themselves and others and provide them with a bank of tools and strategies to help regulate their emotions and improve their wellbeing.
The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum based around the use of four colours to help children self-identify how they are feeling and categorise it based on colour. The curriculum also helps children better understand their emotions, sensory needs and thinking patterns. The children learn different strategies to cope and manage their emotions based on which colour zone they are in. additionally, The Zones of Regulation helps children to recognise their own triggers, learn to read facial expressions, develop problem-solving skills, and become more attuned to how their actions affect other people.

We are a Makaton Friendly school.
