It has been so lovely to have all the children back in school and to see them settling back into our routines so well. After a busy first few days, we’re more than ready for our first full week back and are looking forward to getting stuck into our learning!
In English, we began the term with poetry! It has been amazing to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic when creating and performing their raps. They have embraced the opportunity to explore rhythm, language and performance, and have already produced some fantastic ideas. This week, we are looking at starting non-chronological reports and we’ll begin to focus on some more specific writing techniques and vocabulary, helping us to develop our own writing and make thoughtful choices about the language we use.
In Maths, we’ll be continuing our work on place value, making sure we have a secure understanding of numbers and the value of each digit. We’ll be building on our learning and developing our mathematical thinking as we continue to explore place value and prepare for the exciting learning ahead.
In Geography, we’ll be preparing for our fieldwork, which we will be completing on Friday afternoon. We’ll be putting our geographical skills into practice as we explore our local area, make observations and collect information. We’re really looking forward to getting outside and seeing our Geography learning come to life!
Our spelling groups will begin from Monday. All children will be provided with their spelling lists so that they can begin practising their words regularly.
Our PGL meeting will take place on Monday afternoon at 2:30pm, where more information about the upcoming trip will be shared with everyone. We’re looking forward to sharing more details and helping everyone feel prepared and excited for the adventure ahead!
This week Violet also has bike track for children wanting to bring in their bikes on the following days:
Violet R - Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th.
Violet B - Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th.
Children can drop off their bikes as they come into school on their first day of bike track and these can remain in school until the end of the second day.
We’d also like to wish all the children taking their 11+ tests this week the very best of luck! We are incredibly proud of the hard work and effort you have put in, so remember to stay calm, believe in yourselves and do your very best.
More information about home learning and reading records will be shared as the week progresses and in next week’s blog.
We’re really looking forward to our first full week together and to seeing the children continue to settle into their routines, challenge themselves and enjoy their learning.
Let’s continuing the start of a fantastic term!
