It’s officially time to begin your final year at Tunstall – we can’t believe it! We hope you’ve all had a fantastic summer and are feeling ready for an exciting year ahead.
Although it’s a shorter week, we have lots to get started with as we settle back into school life and begin exploring our new topics.
We’ll be diving into our new Geography topic: How are people and places changing in the UK? Beginning to prepare for our fieldwork trip next week. We’ll be thinking like geographers, exploring our local area and getting ready to collect and record information during our trip.
In Maths, we’ll be focusing on place value, making sure we have a really secure understanding of numbers and the value of each digit. We’ll be building on what we already know and getting ourselves ready for the exciting Maths learning ahead!
In English, we’ll be exploring and performing poetry, including Gran, Can You Rap? Get ready to find your rhythm! We’ll be working on expression, rhythm, pace and confidence as we bring poetry to life.
Our new Science topic is Electricity! We’ll be getting hands-on with electrical equipment, investigating how to make complete and incomplete circuits, and learning about the different symbols used to represent components in circuit diagrams.
PE
This term, we have two PE sessions each week:
Monday – Gymnastics
Friday – Hockey
Please make sure you come to school in your PE kit on both days.
Most importantly, we’re really looking forward to getting to know you all a little more, hearing about your summer and finding out what makes you you. Year 6 is going to be a fantastic year, filled with plenty of challenges, opportunities and memories – and we can’t wait to share it with you!
Let’s make it a year to remember!
