Week Commencing: Wednesday 2nd September 2026
Welcome to Year 5! We hope you have all had a lovely summer and are looking forward to the year ahead. We are excited to welcome the children tomorrow.
A few reminders and bits of information as we get started:
- Muddy shoes: Please send spare shoes into school in a carrier bag as soon as you are able to. We will label the bags and keep them under the cloakroom benches.
- Personal toys and fidgets: Please do not send children in with personal toys or fidgets unless this has been agreed with the Inclusion Lead or their previous teacher as part of their wellbeing support. In these cases, children should bring one silent fidget which should not be shared. We can provide one in school if needed.
- Mobile phones: Children are allowed to bring mobile phones into school if you feel this is necessary. These should be turned off as soon as the children enter the school grounds and not turned back on until they have left the school grounds. During the day, mobile phones should be given to class teachers. Please be aware that phones are brought into school at the child's own risk and the school cannot accept responsibility for any loss, theft or damage.
- End-of-day arrangements: To support the children's growing independence, you can choose where to meet your child at the end of the school day. If you would like to continue meeting them at the school door, this will be the West Stairs door, where class teachers will also be available for a quick chat if you need one. Alternatively, you can arrange to meet your child elsewhere, such as outside the Red Class gate. If your child will be meeting you outside the school grounds or walking home without an adult, consent must be provided through the school office.
- P.E: Our P.E. days in Term 1 will be Thursday (indoor) and Friday (outdoor).
- Reading, home learning, spellings and website logins: Further information will be sent home over the coming days.
