Week Commencing: Monday 14th September 2026

This week sees the return of the bike track days for Year 5. Indigo B will take part on Monday and Tuesday, while Indigo G will have their sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. On their allocated day, children should enter and leave school through the wheels track gate. Helmets must be always worn, and children are not permitted to ‘swap wheels’ during the sessions.

Reading records should have come home on Friday, and inside the front cover you will find our updated home learning offer. This year, we are putting a renewed focus on those all-important foundations of Reading, Spelling and Mental Maths/Times Tables, while also giving children the chance to have some fun with our ‘50 Challenges to Do Before You Leave Primary’ menu. There should be plenty of different challenges to get stuck into!

Just inside the front of the Reading Record, you will also find an example of how children can record their reading. The expectation is that children read five times a week, with Reading Records checked in class every Monday. We’ll also be keeping track of those five-a-week readers, with rewards on offer for children who manage to hit the target a certain number of times.

Finally, if anyone has forgotten their login details, fear not! You’ll find your TT Rockstars and EdShed logins conveniently tucked away at the back of the Reading Record. Speaking of EdShed, the last key piece of information yet to be shared is spelling groups. We’ll be discussing this with the children in class this week, so they’ll soon know which group they are in and which spellings they’ll be working on.
