So far this term, the children have continued to work incredibly hard and show great enthusiasm as we move further into the term. It has been lovely to see them growing in confidence and settling into the routines of Year 6.
In Geography, we have successfully completed our fieldwork, which the children had been planning and preparing for over the past few lessons. They worked hard to collect information and make observations before putting everything they had learned together. The children then had the opportunity to present their findings to each other, which was a great way to share their hard work.
Although our fieldwork is complete, our Geography learning will continue to focus on the theme of ‘How Are People and Places Changing in the UK?’ There is plenty more for us to explore as we look at how different places and communities across the UK are changing.
The children have adapted well to their new Maths groups and have settled into their lessons confidently. It has been lovely to see them working hard, supporting one another and becoming more confident in their learning. We will continue to support and encourage the children as they develop their skills and grow in confidence.
In English, we are currently finishing our non-chronological writing based on an island that we have imagined ourselves. The children have been developing their writing skills and thinking carefully about how they can bring their imaginary islands to life for the reader.
Once we have finished our island writing, we will be moving on to mystery writing, inspired by Murder Most Ladylike. We are looking forward to seeing the children's creativity as they come up with their own mysterious stories, clues and characters!
Alongside this, Kensuke's Kingdom will continue to be our reading text, which we are sure the children will continue to enjoy. We would also like to give a reminder for the children to bring in their reading records so that we can take a look at some of the amazing stories the children have been reading.
Our new Design and Technology project will begin this week!
The children will be working towards designing and making their own electrical games. It will be exciting to see the different ideas they come up with and watch their designs take shape.
To help us with this project, please could children bring in clean cardboard boxes and pieces of cardboard that we can use for our designs? Cereal boxes, small delivery boxes and similar cardboard would be particularly useful.
For spelling this week, all groups should refer to list 3 in the spelling documents on the main page.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support!
