English
This week, we are diving into the world of poetry! We will be exploring two different types of poetry: didactic cinquains and kenning poems. We will read and explore examples, have a go at performing them, and then use what we have learnt to write our very own poems. We are looking forward to seeing the creativity and vocabulary that the children bring to their writing!

Maths
In Maths, we will be recapping our learning about Roman numerals from Year 3 before moving on to our new learning about rounding numbers to the nearest 10. We will be using practical activities and problem-solving to help us understand when and why we might need to round numbers.

Science
Our Science learning this week takes us inside the human digestive system! We will be using a model to explore the journey that food takes through our bodies. We will think about how our bodies break down food and absorb the nutrients we need, as well as what happens to the parts our bodies cannot use.

Geography Field Trip – Friday 25th September
A reminder that we will be completing our Geography field trip on Friday 25th September. We will be heading out on a local walk, where we will be developing our understanding of compass points and practising plotting the different directions we take on a map as we change direction during our journey.

We will leave school at approximately 9:45am and will return in plenty of time for lunch. Please ensure children come to school dressed appropriately for the weather and wearing suitable footwear for walking (their black trainers would be perfect!).

⛪ Harvest Church Service
A reminder that our Harvest Church Service will take place on Friday 2nd October at 9:30am. We look forward to welcoming families to celebrate Harvest with us.

One additional notice and a little pre-warning: Miss Brown will be accompanying the Year 6 children on their PGL residential during the week beginning 28th September, so unfortunately she will not be able to see you at our Harvest celebration. While she is away, Blue B will be taught by Mrs Frith and will continue to be supported by Mrs McCarthy.

Jewellery Reminder
Finally, please remember that jewellery should not be worn in school, with the exception of a simple religious item. This is important for the safety of all children during lessons, PE and playtimes.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are looking forward to another busy and exciting week in Year 4! ????
